Darling Bud's of May

Although, Butterick 5130 ist still a awork in progress, in wise foresight i'm thinking about my next sewing project. And right now, i'm in love with flower prints. I see them everywhere in the stores as flirty dresses or summer skirts. When i came across this beauty, i couldn't resist:

The fabric is see through, but has quite a stand and a nice touch. And because i've planned to make it into a summer dress it is 100% cotton. It feels so much nicer on the skin when it is hot then synthetic fibres. Since the fabric is see-through it will become a linned dress, but even though i prefer natural fibres for summer clothes.

What seams to me to be a big trend is bustier dresses á la BWOF 05-2010-107 in flower prints. But i plan to wear this dress for work as well, such that a style like that would be too naked for office. My actual favorite is BWOF 11-201-107: a cocktail dress in 50ies style with a tight-fitting bodice and full skirt (sorry, can't link the technical drawing since the Burda-archive doesn't exist anymore/yet). As soon as Butterick 5130 is finished i will start this dress!

For summer dresses, I usually line cotton that is too sheer with cotton batiste. If you are ever going to wear stockings or tights with the dress that doesn't work so well as the cotton will stick, but for summer dresses it's not usually a consideration.

Thank you Trena for that tipp. This time i will use a linning i'v bought at the Hugo Boss fabric factory outlet. It has a wonderful quality and feels very nice on the skin. But next time, i will try cotton batiste.
