Wie die Mutter, so die Tochter

Wie bereits angekündigt, konnte ich mir ein zusammenpassendes Mama-Kind-Ensemble nicht verkneifen. Auslöser war der Stoff von Phantasiali. Ein weißer Batist mit Stickerei, aufgenähten Blüten und Blumen-Bogenkante. Weiß ist meiner Meinung nach eh DIE Farbe des Sommers. Und zusammen mit dem ganzen anderen Chi chi konnte ich einfach nicht widerstehen.

As mentioned in my previous post, i couldn't resist to sew a mother-daughter-outfit. This outfit was triggered by the fabric. It's a white cotton batiste with embroidery, sewn on flowers and a flower border. It is from Phantasiali fabrics. All in all, i couldn't resist to buy this fabric.

Als Schnitt habe ich mir in beiden Fällen etwas Luftiges aber Langärmeliges ausgesucht. Für unsere kleine Motte Burda 10-2008-140 und für mich Burda 11-2009-112.

Momentan brauche ich für alles, noch so einfaches eine halbe Ewigkeit. Und wenn dann alles fertig ist, habe ich die Details schon wieder vergessen. Daher kann ich leider gar nicht mehr so viel dazu sagen und zeige Euch dafür umso mehr Bilder:

For the pattern, i've wanted something airy, not so close-fitting with long-sleeves, in both cases. So, i've chosen Burda 10-2008-140 for my little girl and Burda 11-2009-112 for me.

Right now, it takes me forever to finish something. And when i'm finally done, i've forgotten all the interesting construction details. That's why i can't say much about it. But here are pictures of the garments in action:

Fazit: 

An dem Schnitt gefiel mir insbesondere die Empire-Linie zusammen mit dem V-Ausschnitt. Ich denke, dass der Schnitt sich auch gut eignet, um die Bordüre des Stoffes auszunutzen. 

Das vordere Oberteil habe ich gedoppelt. So wird es blickdichter und ich muss nicht immer ein Top drunter ziehen. Das würde mich insbesondere bei Temperaturen über 30°C stören. 

Das untere Stück habe ich abgeändert. Das Original sieht einen schrägen Saum vor (vorne kürzer als hinten). Ich habe dazu einfach ein Rechteck genommen, eingekräuselt und an das Oberteil angenäht. 

Die Ärmel waren sehr, sehr weit. Da habe ich (schon allein aus Stoffmangel) einiges an Weite herausgenommen. Bei einer ersten Anprobe waren sie mir auch zu "gepufft" (oh je, jetzt lande ich mit meinem armen harmlosen Blog auf etlichen roten Listen). Also habe ich die Ärmel noch mal herausgetrennt und so gut es geht gerettet. 

Ansonsten bin ich aber überaus zufrieden mit meinem Oberteil. Wenn das Wetter es zuließe, würde ich es bestimmt sehr oft tragen!

Conclusion:

I liked that this pattern has an empire waist and a V-neckline. I think the pattern shows the flower border of the fabric pretty well. 

The upper front is lined with the same fabric. So it's not that see-through and i don't neccessarily have to wear a tank top underneath. That would be especially annoying when the temperatures rise over 30°C. 

In the original the hem of the top is shorter in the front than in the back. I've changed that. My lower part is simply a shirred rectangle sewn onto the upper part.

In the original pattern, also the sleeves are very, very wide. I changed that (not only because i didn't had enough fabric). During my first fitting i didn't liked the sleeves. The were still too "puff-y" and i took out as much width as possible.

However, i'm totally happy with the finished garment. If the weather would be nice i would wear it a lot!

Ich habe den Schnitt in Größe 98 genäht, obwohl meine Kleine momentan eher eine Größe 86 trägt. Das Oberteil ist wirklich deutlich zu groß.Leider sieht man es auf keinem der Fotos besonders gut, aber das Oberteil an sich sitzt ganz gut. Und wie auch bei meinem Oberteil sind es hauptsächlich die Ärmel, die zu weit, zu "puffig" sind. Ansonsten finde ich es aber zuckersüß und schön luftig für heiße Sommertage (Hallo Petrus, das ist ein Wink mit dem Zaunpfahl ;-) Meine Kleine wird jetzt also öfters in "Taufkleid" herumlaufen!

Conclusion:

I've made a children size 98 even though my little princess wears still a size 86. Thus, the top is too big, way too big. Unfortunately, none of the pictures showed it properly but the bodice fits quite well. Only the sleeves are too wide and again too "puff-y" Nonetheless, i do love the top. It's super cute and nice for hot weather days. My little girl is going to wear her "christening robe" a lot!

Lackschaden

Ich gestehe, dass ich hin und wieder einen Hang zum Kitsch habe. So ist es auch gar nicht weiter verwunderlich, dass es mir die knallbunten Ketten von Shourouk und Tom Binns angetan haben.

I've to admit that i've a weakness for "Kitsch". So, it's quite natural that i fell in love with the colorful statement colliers by  Shourouk and Tom Binns.

Leider bewegen sich die Preise für die Ketten der genannten Designer in exorbitanten Hemispheren. Nach kurzer Recherche im Netz bin ich auf Tutorials (z.B. hier) gestoßen, wie man aus einfachem Modeschmuck mit wenig Auwand ähnliche Stücke zaubern kann.

Unfortunately, their prices are totally outside of my budget. But after a short search on the internet, i found some easy tutorials (e.g. here) how to make it yourself.

Kleinkariert ......

Im Januar waren wir für zwei Wochen im Urlaub. Und gewöhnlich gehört für mich zur Urlaubsvorbereitung, dass ich mindestens ein Urlaubsteil nähe. Dieses Jahr gab es etwas für meine Kleine: Ein Oberteil nach Burda 05-2012-146 und dazu passende Shorts nach Burda 05-2012-144. Beide Teile habe ich 1-2 Nummern zu groß in Größe 98 genäht. Da wir im Januar weg waren und sie beides im Sommer noch tragen soll, ist so genug Luft zum "Reinwachsen". Da mir das Original in der Zeitschrift so gut gefiel, habe ich es in punkto Stoffwahl 1:1 umgesetzt.

We've been on vacation in January. And usually, sewing something is part of my vacation preparation. This time, i've made something for my little girl: Top Burda 05-2012-146 and shorts Burda 05-2012-144. I've made both pieces 1-2 sizes too big in size 98. We've been away in January. That way she can wear it during this year's summer and there is enough space to grow in. Because i liked the version in the magazine that much, i've made a 1:1 copy.

 

 

Fazit: Ich finde sowohl Oberteil als auch Shorts sind total süß geworden. Ich bin rundum zufrieden!

Conclusion: I'm totally happy with both garments. She looks super cute in it!

Museumsreif ......

..... ist der Stoff von meinem nächsten Projekt.

A fabric like a painting is what i've chosen for my next project:

Der Stoff ist ein Polyester-Satin von Alfatex. Der Druck hat es mir einfach angetan. Da habe ich dann auch drüber hinweg gesehen, dass es sich um einen reinen Synthetikstoff handelt (mag ich eigentlich nicht so). 

The fabric is a Polyester sateen from Alfatex. I instantly fell in love with the print. That's why i've ignored that the fabric content is 100% synthetic.

Und weil der Stoff so ein Hingucker ist, durfte der Schnitt für dieses Top ganz schlicht sein. Dieses Mal habe ich mich für Burda 02-2013-103 entschieden, allerdings verkürzt als Top. Der Schnitt besteht aus zwei Teilen (Vorder- und Rückenteil) und ist ganz einfach und schnell genäht .... eigentlich ......wenn man sich nicht für so einen fiesen Stoff entscheidet, wie ich es getan habe. Der hat mich echt Nerven gekostet. Meine Overlock hat sich verweigert und meine Nähmaschine hat auch lange gemuckst. Bis ich dann beim Nähen Seidenpapier untergelegt habe, das ich hinterher entfernt habe.

Because the fabric is such an eyecatcher, i've chosen a simple pattern, Burda 02-2013-103 (made as a top instead of a dress). It consists of two pieces (front and back) and is easy and fast to sew .... theoretically ..... except you chose such a mean fabric like i did. It was really a PITA to work with. My serger totally refused to sew it and my sewing mashine had problems as well. In the end, i've used tissue paper. That worked well.

Fazit: Alles in allem ein schönes Top. Der Stoff trägt sich für Polyester erstaunlich angenehm auf der Haut. Nur über die Länge muss ich noch sinnieren. Vielleicht kürze ich noch um ein paar Zentimeter. Ansonsten bin ich zufrieden!

Conclusion: A nice top which can be dressed up and down easily. The fabric feels surprisingly nice on the skin. However, maybe i will shorten the top about a few centimeter. But i'm not sure about that. In the end, i'm very happy with the outcome!

Comfort Zone

Ich muss gestehen, dass ich eine leidenschaftliche Anhängerin von gemütlichen Klamotten bin. Um so erfreuter war ich, als ich in Modezeitschriften Jogginghosen als vollwertige Hose gestylt sah.

I have to admit, that i'm a big fan of comfortable clothes. So, i was very excited when i saw sweatpants outfits in various fashion magazines.

Wenn ich auch unsicher war, ob ich letztendlich so das Haus verlassen würde, habe ich mir dennoch eine  entsprechende Jogginhose genäht. Die kann ich immer gebrauchen (und wenn es nur zum rumlümmeln oder sporteln ist) und ist ja wirklich fix genäht. Und Stoff (ein ungerauhter, grauer Sommersweat)  und Schnitt (Burda 11-2012-135) waren schließlich auch vorrätig. Und hier ist dann das Ergebnis:

Even though i was insecure, if i would really leave the house in sweatpants, i made myself a pair. I've always use for them (for watching movies in the evenings or for workout) and they are fast and easy to sew. Furthermore, i had fabric (a lightweight, gray sweat fabric) and pattern (Burda 11-2012-135) in my stash. And here is the result: 

Fazit: Jetzt bin ich sicher: Mit Jogginghose verlasse ich das Haus nur zum Sport. Nichtsdestotrotz habe ich jetzt eine gut sitzende und bequeme neue Sporthose.

Conclusion: Now i'm sure: I won't leave the house in sweatpants, except for workout. Nonetheless, i have a new, well fitting and comfortable pair of pants for sports.

Grundlagen der Geometrie

Es gilt:                      Kreisumfang = 2*pi*Radius.
Umformung ergibt:    Radius = Kreisumfang / (2*pi).

Was das alles soll? Das ist die Grundlage für mein nächstes Projekt: Ein grauer Jersey-Rock nach diesem Vorbild:

What's that all about? My next project is based on that equation. A gray jersey circle skirt like this one:

Einen derartigen Rock zu nähen, ist fast schon lächerlich einfach. Ich habe dazu einfach ein Stück Jersey genommen, zu einem Quadrat gefaltet, entsprechend meiner Taille einen Kreis ausgeschnitten, einen Gummizug genäht und fertig. 

It is ridiculously easy to sew. Take a piece of lightweight jersey, fold it into a rectangle/square, cut out a circle according to your measurements, sew a elastic chasing und you're done.

Anmerkung: Der Rock ist nicht gerade ein Figurschmeichler. Bei der Berechnung des Kreisradius sollte man das bedenken. Ich habe bei meiner Berechnung großzügig aufgerundet (Radius plus ca. 10cm). Ich denke, schöner und figurschmeichelnder wird es, wenn der Rock an der Hüfte weniger Stofflagen hat.

Note: This skirt is very hip-emphasizing. You should keep that in mind when calculating the radius.I've generously rounded up my radius about 10cm. I think this skirt will look nice if there is less fabric around the hips.

Fazit: Soooo einfach und schnell genäht. Es dauert länger, in die Stadt zu fahren, einen Parkplatz zu suchen und einen Rock zu kaufen. Der Rock wird bei mir im Sommer bestimmt der Dauerbrenner. Und vielleicht folgt noch das ein oder andere Modell in einer anderen Farbe.

Conclusion: Sooo easy and fast to sew. It takes longer to drive into the city, find a parking lot and buy one. I think this will be one of my wardrobe staples for summer. Maybe i will sew another one in a different color, too.

April Showers bring May Flowers

Vor kurzem habe ich Polyvore für mich entdeckt, um meine Kleider zu organisieren, Looks zu kreieren und meine Shopping- und Nähsucht ein wenig zu kanalisieren. Das führt dann hoffentlich zu weniger Schrankleichen in der Zukunft. Hier also mein erster Look:

I'm probably a little late to the party. I've recently dicovered Polyvore to organize my closet, create looks and channel my sewing and shopping. Hopefully, this leads to less orphans in my closet. So, here is my first look:

Der Stoff ist ein feiner Viskosejersey (Ilenia von Hilco), gekauft über ebay. Und da der Stoff mit dem Blumenprint schon auffällig genug ist, kann der Schnitt dann auch ganz schlicht sein. Das Schnittmuster ist Burda 11-2012-136. Super schnell und einfach zu nähen.Hier noch zwei Anmerkungen zum Schnitt: Meiner Meinung nach ist die Paßform für einen Burda-Schnitt eher körpernah. Ich habe meine übliche Größe 36 genäht, die mir sonst eher locker passt. Das Oberteil sitzt jetzt aber sehr figurnah (Nein, ich habe nicht zugenommen ;-) Und der Armausschnitt ist wirklich sehr weit, so dass man definitiv etwas drunter anziehen muss (siehe Bild unten).

The fabric is a soft rayon jersey (ilenia by Hilco), bought on ebay. Because the fabric is such an eyecatcher, i've choosen a simple pattern (Burda 11-2012-136). It is super quick and easy to sew. I only have to remarks: First, the fit is quite tight-fitting. I've made my usual size 36 and didn't gain weight in the meantime ;-) However, the top fits quite closely. And the second remark is about the armwhole (see picture below). I definetly have to wear something underneath.

Fazit: Ein tolles Oberteil, das ich im Sommer bestimmt sehr, sehr oft tragen werde. Der Stoff spricht einfach für sich!

Conclusion: I love my new top. It is all about the fabric. And i will wear it definetly a lot this summer.
