I can't stop thinking about ... sewing! What can you do when you're not able to sew? Right, think about sewing and making plans for future projects ;-)
Here is my (unaccomodating and dynamic changing) favorite list for spring/summer 2009:

Kleider / Dresses
Stricken / Knitting
Jacken / Jackets
Röcke und Hosen / Bottoms

Kleider / Dresses

(Pictures from Neiman Marcus)

On Top of my sewing list is this fabulous knit dress by Yoana Baraschi. This dress is available at Neiman Marcus for $355. I want to make a copy, but still am not sure what color to choose. I want to make it wearable in summer as well as in spring and fall. I think i will choose a color like brown, olive or sand ....

(Picture from Burdastyle.com)

I also want to make this dress: Paola from Burdastyle. I love it. It will be perfect to wear at work as well as for dinner out with friends, shopping, etc.

The first two dresses are from the category "must-have". The next two dresses are from the category "nice-to-have".

(Picture from Butterick.com)

This is Butterick 5130, View A. I love the dresses this talented sewist made.....

(Picture from Burdastyle.com)

Vielen Dank, ElaineMay!

This dress is a creation of the super talented Burdastyle-member Elainemay. She designed this Coffee Date Dress and was so nice to share this pattern with all of us. Thank you, ElaineMay!

Stricken / Knitting

Zwei Dinge möchte ich unbedingt machen.

There are two things i really want to do for Spring/Summer 2009.

(Pictures from Nordstrom.com)

The first is a Missoni-like dress with the typical Zig-Zag-Pattern.

The second is a chrocheted white dress. Something like the beautiful and talented Erica B. made . I "only" need to learn how to chrochet .....

Jacken / Jackets

(Picture from Butterick.com)

This jacket or a jacket in this style will be my first project after my sewing break. The pattern is Butterick 5332. I have a golden cotton fabric here in my stash which i will use for this jacket.

Modell 104 aus der Burda von September 2008.

This pattern is from the september 2008 issue of BWOF. I really love it.

Röcke und Hosen / Bottoms

(Pictures from the Patrones Magazine, issue 256)

This cargo-pants will be perfect for sporty summer activities like trekking, bicycling, etc. The fabric will be a denim-like cotton fabric in olive-brown that i bought at the fabric factory outlet from Hugo Boss in Metzingen. I will do the BWOF jacket above in the same fabric.

(Picture from Vogue.com by Imaxtree)

I will do a skirt inspired by this adorable Christian Dior dress. The dress is from the Spring/Summer 2009 Haute Couture show. I will take out some volume, but I will copy
the black ribbon and bow details ....

Alles Liebe, senaSews

The month of March brings a lot of changes for me. After a long time of back and forth, it's clear: i have a new job !!! Puuh, it wasn't easy to find a job during the current economic crisis. But, all's well that ends well. I'm really looking forward to all the changes and coming challenges. I will start my new job in the middle of March. But before we have to move. So, everything here is a total mess. Things need to be sorted and packed, walls need to be painted, a kitchen needs to be bought and build. No possibility to even think of sewing. As soon as everything went back to normal i will return to my sewing and blogging routine.

I hope you all stay well and healthy.

Best wishes, senaSews

Chiara

My actual knitting project Vanilla Sky has entered the finishing line. But i have already something new in my mind. I will use this wonderful yarn:

Chiara von Lana Grossa
70% Viskose, 20% Superkid Mohair, 10% Polyamid

The yarn is brown with a silver-shimmering, is wonderful soft an the knitted result has a very interesting and exclusive looking style. I've bought it for 4,35 € each ball here. This was a bargain! My mother paid at her local shop 5,50€ each ball. I usually prefer to buy at my local shop, but there it was sold and so i searched and found this yarn online.

For Narina - Part II

After the last projects didn't turned out the way i've imagined, i was kind of surprised how easy this one was. Two evenings of sewing and my new sweater jacket was finished.

The jacket is made from a gray sweater fabric with a satin ribbon at the waist. The pattern is Patrones 249-47 (isn't it astonishing how a different fabric and little details change a pattern totally?!). I've omitted the darts and sewed a train at the waist instead. And that's all. BUT the next time i would sew the darts because there's to much width at the waist and so there are some crinkles there ...

On the picture it looks like the seam at the back isn't right. I've checked it and it's just on the picture. And here is a picture without me inside:

For Narina

After the last, frustrating project my new project will be something less experimental. Inspired by an italian fashion label i will sew a sweat-jacket like this one. Therefore, i will use Patrones 249-47 again without the darts and with a train at the waist instead. Wish me luck that this will work out. And ... suprise ... tha fabric will be a gray (!!!) light sweat fabric from my stash. So let's get started :-)

Check Mate - Part III

(English)

Beschreibung:

Ja.

War die Anleitung leicht zu verstehen?
Naja, ewig die gleiche Frage ... eher ... Nein.

Was magst Du besonder bzw.

Pattern Description:
Chaqueta Sisley ???

Sizes:
40-44-48 (spanish sizes).

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes.

Were the instructions easy to follow?
Always the same question .... rather ... NO.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like this pattern. The fitting is good. Due to the darts and seams you can fit this jacket quite good - which is important for me because of my hollow back and small waist.

Design changes
None.

Fabric Used
1,5m plaid cotton, interfacing, 2 buttons

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes and yes. First yes with the restriction not to use plaids or stripes or any other bad prints like that again ;-)

Conclusion
I've lost my motivation on half the way due to the misscarried plackets. But ... I've finished it finally. I really like this pattern. But the next time i would use a fabric which is easier to handle....

Neue Jeans / New Jeans

What do you do to get around something like handstitching the seams? Right, start a new project!
The enxt project is a pair of pants to go with the check mate-blazer. I will sew it from a black jeans fabric. Therfore, i will copy a pair of pants from my closet. For me it appears to be easier to copy a pair of pants with a good fit than to fit a pattern. You can see the pair of pants on the picture above and the copied pattern on the picture below. The fabric is cut and i can start now to sew.
