Boys in the Hood

Zunächst einmal möchte ich Euch allen noch mal ein ganz herzliches Dankeschön für die lieben Kommentare zu meinem Swap sagen. Vielen, vielen Dank!

First of all i want to thank you all for all the nice and lovely comments on my Swap! Thanx!

So, mein Mantel ist so gut wie fertig! Das Säumen per Hand habe ich abends vor dem Fernseher erledigt. Was noch fehlt sind die Knöpfe. Die Knöpfe, die ich ursprünglich für den Mantel vorgesehen hatte, gefielen mir nun doch nicht mehr. Hier im Laden habe ich jedoch keine passenden gefunden ... letztendlich habe ich auf gut Glück bei Ebay welche erstanden. Bis die hier sind, bleibt mir allerdings nichts anderes zu tun als abzuwarten und mich anderen Projekten zu widmen :-)

My coat is nearly done! I've handstitched the seams during the week while watching TV. All what is missing, are the buttons. I did't like the buttons i've originally intended to use ... and i didn't found matching buttons at my local department store ... so i've bought buttons on Ebay. Don't know if they match .... so i can't do anything then wait ... and start something new :-)

Als nächstes wird mein Liebster benäht: Ich werde ihm zwei Sweatshirts nähen .... schön kuschelig aus Sweatshirtstoff, sportlich und gemütlich für Spaziergänge im Wald oder sonstige Freizeitaktivitäten ... einmal in braun und einmal in dunkelblau. Den Schnitt werde ich von einem seiner Shirts abnehmen und mit ein paar Details aufpeppen. Und hier sind die Stoffe dazu:

Next on my list are two hoodies for my DH ..... made from cosy sweatshirt fleece, sporty and comfy for a walk or other freetime activities ... one in brown and one in navy. I will trace the pattern from one of his Longsleeves and add some details to make it more fashionable. So here are the fabrics:

BMV: Pattern Sale

Heute ist Pattern Sale bei Vogue, Butterick und McCall - d.h. jeder Schnitt für 4,24$. Da konnte ich natürlich nicht widerstehen - zumal ich mit einigen Schnitten schon seit geraumer Zeit geliebäugelt habe .... jetzt muss ich also warten, bis die heißersehnten Schnitte hier bei mir eintrudeln!

There is a pattern sale on Vogue, Butterick and McCall - i.e. each pattern for $4.25. There have been a few patterns i've wanted to have for a longer time. So i couldn't resist the temptation .... I hope it doesn't take too long until i've got them!

SWAP 2009: Bottom No. 4

Und da waren's endlich zehn! Damit mache ich die zehne voll und zeige euch das letzte Teil meines SWAPs: Ein beiger Rock in leicht ausgestellter A-Linie aus leichtem Baumwollstoff. Eigentlich ist das gute Stück eine Weile fertig, aber ich bin bisher noch nicht dazu gekommen, Fotos zu machen .... Der Schnitt ist selbst-konstruiert. Viel fällt mir dazu auch nicht ein. Hier also einfach noch ein paar Details vom Innenleben:

Now, I've made the ten. This is the tenth and last piece of my SWAP: A beige skirt with a slight A-line made from a cotton fabric in beige. I've finished it a while ago but didn't had the time to take pictures .... The pattern is self-drafted - a quite simple A-line skirt. Nothing more to say, so here are some details from the inside:

Chocolate Coat - Part IV

So, ich habe eine weitere Hürde genommen: Das Futter für meinen Mantel ist fertig und auch schon in den Mantel eingenäht.
So sehr ich es liebe, Jacken und Mantel zu Nähen, so sehr graust es mich immer wieder vor dem Nähen des Futters. Nein, dass muss ich präzisieren: Mich graust es vor dem Einsetzen der Ärmel im Futter. Irgendwie ist das immer so eine Fuddelei und man steckt alles schön fest und dann verzieht es sich doch wieder beim Nähen.
Nun ist es aber geschafft, bleibt noch das Einnähen der Knöpfe und das Säumen per Hand und dann ist es vollbracht!

I've made another step on my way to finish the coat: I've sewed the lining and also attached it to the coat.
As much as i love to sew jackets and coats, as much do i fear sewing the lining. Or more precisely, setting in the sleeves of the lining. It's fiddly and you can use thousands of pins the fabric is moving still. But now i'm done with the lining.
I still need to sew the buttons and handstitch the seam and then it's done!

Neue Stoffe

Ja, ich habe mal wieder zugeschlagen. Und bin mit zwei neuen Stöffchen nach Hause gekommen :-)

I was shopping again and bought some new fabrics :-)



Der Stoff oben ist ein Taft in Pastellfarben, mit einem leichten Farbverlauf in den Farben hellrosa, apricot, flieder. Daraus soll dann irgendwann einmal ein Sommerrock werden.

This is a taffeta in pastel colors (do you call this soft change of color "ombre"?). It will become a sommer skirt.



Diesen Lycra habe ich für nur 3€/m erstanden. Der Stoff fühlt sich ganz toll an und hat eine Farbe irgendwo zwischen hellrosa und taupe.

I'v bought this Lycra in a nude color, something between pale pinkt and taupe, for only 3€/m.



Und das soll einmal daraus werden: Vogue 1029. Es ist ein Kleid nach einem Entwurf von Michael Kors. Ich liebe die Drapierungen vorne, werde die Drapierungen hinten jedoch weglassen (das würde einfach mehr Aufmerksamkeit auf meinen Allerwertesten ziehen als mir lieb ist).

And this is what i plan to make: Vogue 1029. It's a dress by a Michael Kors design. I love it. But i will omit the back draping (because this would cause more attention than my backview can stand).

Chocolate Coat - Part III

Und in Mini-Schritten geht es weiter mit meinem Mantel: Der Kragen ist dran und hier ist schon Mal ein erster Eindruck, wie der Mantel mal aussehen wird.

And i'm still making little progress on my coat: I've added the collar and now you get an impression how the finished coat will look like.


In Wirklichkeit sieht der Mantel vieeel schöner aus. Das Foto ist mit Blitz aufgenommen und nachträglich aufgehellt. Der Stoff hat einen richtig tollen, satten Farbton und eine wunderschöne Textur *schwärm*

The coat looks soooo much better in real. The picture is taken with a flash und i've also used an image processing program to set up the brightness. The color of the fabric is warm and the texture of the fabric is so beautiful *sigh*
Als Ausgangsbasis habe ich den Schnitt Vogue 8307 verwendet mit folgenden Änderungen:

• Ich habe den Kragen selber konstruiert,
• Gürtel und Gürtelschlaufen hinzugefügt und
  
• Patten (diese Schulterklappen ... yoke ..... verflixt, wie heißen die noch einmal im Deutschen?!) vorne und hinten hinzugefügt.
  

Der Schnitt passt unglaublich gut. Ich habe nichts, aber auch wirklich gar nichts an der Passform des Schnittes geändert. Ich bin begeistert. Die hohen Preise der Vogue Schnitte sind - zumindet in diesem Fall - jeden Pfenning wert. Bleibt "nur" noch das Nähen des Futters und verheiraten von Futter und Mantel.

I've used Vogue 8307 as the starting point and made the following changes:

• I've drafted the collar on my own,
• added a belt and belt loops and
  
• constructed front and back yoke.

The fitting of this pattern is awesome, right out of the envelope. I didn't change anything, really. I'm so enthusiastic. The price of a Vogue pattern seems to be worth every Penny - at least in this case. Now i "only" need to sew the lining and attach the lining to the coat.
